You know the drill! Make a mixtape/mix CD of your favorite tracks, create a case for it and show up ready to trade! Be creative. We’ve seen some great submissions in the past few years – some featuring all ’90s mixes, some encased in old DVD cases and cracker boxes and some dedicated to crying celebrities. You can’t go wrong with this! Ok…maybe you can go wrong. Showing up to a mixtape party without a mix? That’s the wrong way to do it. Don’t worry, however. We will still let you in.
So how exactly does it work? Well…
You will redeem your mixtape at the door to get your discount and you will get a token in return. Come back at the end of the night and you will get a mix. Why not just trade with your friends when you get there? Well, that is just playing it safe – and we like taking risks. Be sure to leave an email or contact information inside your mix. We’ve heard stories of people making friends with complete strangers through the mixes.
We’ve also got a great show lined up for you guys. Portland band Animal Eyes are on their way to Fresno for this one. You’ve seen them everywhere – from Audie’s to Catacomb Party. We are excited to have them back.
Big Long Now hail from the Bay area and are right up our alley. They kinda remind us of some really angry Fugazi mixed with a bit of math rock.
Locals Light Thieves and Natural Thrills are on board to support. Light Thieves are about to put out a new record, so they may be playing some stuff. Natural Thrills have been on hiatus, but we are excited to have them back for a one off. Again, don’t call it a comeback! You’ll see them when you see them.
